How to instantly declutter your mind.
Have there been times in your day when you feel brain fog.I feel like that once i finish a scroll marathon on social media. When there is constant information being throw at you, thoughts flow to you,a feeling of disorganized in your mind like there are multiple tabs open on it making us feel mentally cluttered.
These thoughts, endless to do lists, distractions and notifications make us feel mentally drained out.We feel like we are constantly juggling tasks,we feel like we are all over the place, feel stressed. That feeling that we are constantly busy but are not productive.
But here is the good news, just as we can declutter our overflowing pile of files,we can declutter our mind as well.If you wish for a little more clarity and being organized inside your mind instantly, you are in the right place.
Let’s dive into the simple and easy ways to instantly declutter our minds for clarity, peace and control over our lives
Brain dump
Take a pen and paper or a notes section of your phone and write down everything on your mind. This could be like a to do list or pages of whatever is on your mind.
This action helps us to clear everything that is in our head and make our mind free. Now we have everything that is on our mind into the paper our mind is clear. Now your mind is decluttered and you can work from the tasks on paper.
Start taking lesser decisions
When you want to declutter your mind, constantly make fewer decisions. This can also be done by being prepared for the next day.Prepare your outfit, plan your meals and fill in your car tank. By doing all this you are avoiding making more decisions on the day. Read this post from Harvard School about how having fewer choices can promote our happiness.
If your mind is cluttered, instantly stop making small decisions if you can, like scrolling to a food delivery app thinking about what to order or doing the same with Netflix. By doing this you beat decision fatigue and can take better decisions on things that really matter.
Declutter your physical space
A busy space,a busy mind.Sometimes if might really not be your mind,it could be your physical space. When you feel like you are all over the space with piling papers, messy overflowing table and undone bed take 5 mins to do a quick clean.
Arrange your room,do a table wipe and light a candle and watch how instantly your mind feels cleaner.
Unfollow/Unsubsribe/Block
Social media is ruling over the word. It is amazing in my opinion but you should have control over it,not the other way arounds So at times when you feel a slag after a scroll marathon, think about what you really consume.
When you feel certain pages or people are draining you,not inspiring you or dont align with your values,Unfollow,Unsubsvribe and Block as necessary to instantly declutter your mind as well as your social media apps.
Do a boring task.
Only when our mind is bored will we be able to think clearly and creatively.A constant hit of dopamine and rush is not good for our minds. So when you want to instantly declutter your mind consider doing a boring task, if you are interested more ,read my recent blog post about being bored and its benefits.
Work in 5 min Chunks
The best way to avoid mental clutter is to beat procrastination. When we procrastinate for small tasks that will take only 5 mins to do,we end up being cluttered soon.So for 5 mins tasks, set a timer and finish the task.Like cleaning up the table, changing the flowers or drying out your clothes so when smaller tasks are done, your mind will be instantly less cluttered.

Limit information intake
When your mind is constantly dumped with information that is of no use to you, constant feeling of clutter is obvious. What is the latest celebrity gossip or the unhealthy news about the world going to help you?Limit your information intake by being conscious about them. You are what you consume.

Zen out/Take a nap
If you are too tired to do any of the above, consider just zoning out.Sit on you bed close your eyes and breathe. When your mind wanders into the clutter gently bring it back to your breathing. Then if needed take a nap. There is nothing that a nap cant fix.Zoning out for a bit and meditating can instantly declutter your mind and help you focus on the things that are necessary.
