5 ways to get on your self growth journey along with the Planet, this World Environment Day

Our planet has been our home,we all have been closely related to our Environment in several ways

  • Our lungs bronchial tubes represents the branching patterns of trees
  • Rivers brings in minerals and supplements to agricultural lands same way our blood flows through our body enriching it with supplements
  • Women’s menstrual cycles are deeply connected with the different seasons

We as humans knowingly or unknowingly are deeply rooted with nature and the environment surrounding us.

  • Don’t you ever feel so grounded and calm after a walk in nature?
  • Haven’t we feel so refreshed after a swim in the ocean or a bath in the waterfalls ?

Nature and the environment teaches us a lot that will help us grow as individuals.

So here are 5 ways to get on your self growth journey along with the Planet, this World Environment day as observed  on June 5.

Minimalism improves Mental clarity

Minimalism is not only about removing the extra stuff from my life or wearing only neutrals. It is about giving space for the things that truly matter for us and the environment. When we only own mindful stuff we automatically become conscious of the environment.

It is always a great option to think twice before buying, do i really like the product or am i just impulse shopping?

So once again when we own stuff that is only necessary we can improve our mental clarity. We remove unnecessary distractions, remove clutter mentally and physically and eliminate decision fatigue. To learn more about improving mental clarity you can head to the Daily habits checklist for improving Mental clarity and to eliminate brain fog.

Living consciously about the environment helps us automatically reduce unnecessary stuff that saves our pocket and also saves our environment.

DIY,Repair and Mend makes us mindful

While I was young and still now even if my shoes tear off,I still mend it.I still cut open the toothpaste tube and use the last bit of paste from it. I’m sure some of you might be like me. I’m not here to tell you to be extreme and make your own skin care.

But you can definitely try to upcycle clothes or make your own cleaning solution with just baking soda and lime.

Repairing, mending and DIY all give you the ability to be present with your life.Instead of throwing away stuff and reaching for the next one immediately we can pause, reflect in the moment and mend it.

These activities make our mind calm and be mindful not only with our belongings but with ourselves. If there is something that goes wrong in our life, instead of running away from it,we can choose to sit down with the broken parts of ourselves and fix it one by one.

Living kind and conscious of the environment also helps us practice the same for ourselves.

Growing simple food helps us learn a hobby

Sometimes plants and trees teach us so much about life and seasons.Growing our own food can be daunting but it doesn’t have to be.

I’m not telling you to grow your own rice and wheat but you can try growing simpler food, like microgreens that can help you build your salad, easy mint that can help you make a mint tea or tomatoes, chilies are very easy to grow vegetables.

While we grow our own food,we are contributing to the environment by not relying on fuel that is required to transport food or food that is grown with artificial chemicals.

We can be sure that our food has reached our table with clean ingredients and nothing artificial.Which is truly good for our health and well being.

Also watching a plant grow from seed to fruit is such a rewarding process.By doing this we are helping our environment as well as learning a hobby that serves our plate.

Making conscious decisions for the environment improves our self worth

When we try to live a more sustainable, conscious, mindful, less waste lifestyle we build a self worth with ourselves.

Knowing that we are contributing to our environment that has provided us with everything is a beautiful feeling.

Also with any of these lifestyles like minimalism, plant based, sustainable or zero waste, don’t try to go all in.You don’t have to be 100 percent anything. You can follow a 60% sustainable lifestyle and still improve. There is this false narrative around being 100 percent everything. So remember, something is better than nothing. So be imperfectly sustainable, minimalist, plant based and zero waste. No one is running a race here.

Understanding that we are a small part of the larger ecosystem that is making the environment better each day boosts our self worth and confidence

Interacting with Nature can reduce stress and anxiety

Whenever we feel stuck, anxious or brainfogged, a simple walk in the nature can heal us.We keep staring at our screens most of the time reading tiny letters. While moving outdoors and enjoying the nature,a run in the beach, play in the park or just sitting in our balcony garden can reduce our stress and anxiety.

I don’t have a big garden in my house,we just have a few plants around.Everyday during my morning tea I just go and sit there for sometime. The breeze, mindful drinking of the tea and my cat running around just makes me happy.

This is the best start of the day.So once a day just get outdoors and feel the breeze. You will become more conscious of protecting our environment as well as your inner peace.
